Sonoff SNZB-04 Unboxing Video

Had a go at creating a video, unboxing and adding a Sonoff SNZB-04 to Home Assistant.

So this blog post is slightly different. I am the first to admit that I have never been comfortable on camera in particular. I have decided that this is something that I need to change. I need to become more comfortable with public speaking, with putting myself out there. There are a few reasons for wanting to do this, but they aren’t necessarily for sharing. As my previous post rambled on about Home Assistant and making the house smarter, I decided to do an unboxing video of a Sonoff SNZB-04 Window/Door sensor.

I know it’s rough. The parts where I am on camera were filmed using Microsoft Teams, at the time my internet connection was being used for downloading Xbox games. My connection is not the best! Microsoft Teams was chosen to do the recording because of the ability to apply a background without needing a green screen (something I will get hold of eventually). The sound on Microsoft Teams was good with it suppressing background noise very well. The parts where I am unboxing & configuring were done raw with the microphone. I was able to mask a lot of the background noise by adding a sound track.

I still have a lot to learn about this video creation malarky. A LOT! But I took the opinion that if I waited until I was perfect, I would never get it done. The only way to improve being on camera and public speaking is to do it. So that’s what I am doing. Fingers crossed it will improve over time. I have more to have a go at, including a Xiaomi motion sensor and a HP Elite Slice Teams Room device. I will play around with different camera’s (try the DSLR for example) and different ways to record.
